The Commoners

I tend to think of myself as a man of many interests. Most of them, though, revolve around sports, broadcasting, music, comedy, movies, TV, writing, and running. I believe that having hobbies and interests outside of one’s actual job/career is what keeps us sane. But I often find myself frustrated that there isn’t enough time in the day to properly pursue all of these passions/interests/hobbies. That’s part of my reasoning for wanting to co-create Common Knowledge with Tim. I think that Common Knowledge will provide a platform for expressing my passion for any and all of these areas of interest, and not only that, but Common Knowledge will provide a platform for others to express their thoughts as well. In this way, we’ll all have the opportunity to further explore the world through the eyes of others, and we’ll all have a community of “Commoners” (Common Knowledge contributors/readers) as our audience.

During my younger years my parents often had to be creative when dealing out my punishments. I didn’t mind losing television or video game privileges and I certainly didn’t have a cell phone to be taken away. You see, when I was sent to my room for being the little brat I was back then I simply picked up a book and got lost in some other world. Perhaps that’s where my passion for literature was planted. At the time, this passion was limited to the reading of literature not the creation, but what a childhood I had. I walked with elves in Middle Earth, I defended Salamandastron along side the the fighting hares of the Long Patrol, and ventured through the wardrobe with the Kings and Queens of Narnia. While my passion for reading has not been lost, a passion for creating literature bloomed alongside it. Now I can create my own worlds, share my experiences, and hopefully provoke the kind of thought and discourse Casey and I wish to with Common Knowledge. So whether your passion is flourishing, growing, or still waiting to sprout, join us and we can all grow by sharing with each other and as Casey so wisely mentioned, we can discover a new world through the eyes of others.

A wise professor once told me that the best way to retain information is to write it down. By doing so, I am to educate the reader, as well as myself, along the way. My interests lie predominantly in the fields of economics and finance, and the topics I write about fall into that genre, as well. Fun fact:  I have a really hard time distinguishing between black and navy dress socks in the morning. Thanks for reading.
